About GeoMicro, Inc.
GeoMicro was founded with the single purpose of using Internet Technology to bring Geographic Intelligence to the business world.
What does that mean?
Over 80% of data has a geographic component. A customer's address, the location of offices, stores, trucks or employees, all have a physical, (geographic) location that can be placed on a map. Geographic location is a key element of many personal and business decisions. Yet the power of Geographic Location has remained largely unexploited by the business world.
This has started to change as two industry trends converge;
- the emergence of low cost location technologies such as GPS and RFID are creating an internet of people, places, and things, that are both fixed and mobile. They can be easily tracked to provide actionable information that slashes operating costs, and
- the acceptance of the Internet to centrally manage applications and provide broad enterprise wide accessibility.
What are GeoMicro's Core Technologies?
GeoMicro's core AltaMap technologies include the Internet Map Server and a series of extensions for North American Geocoding, Routing, Integrated maps, and Mobile clients. AltaMap Server is the only Internet Map Server that offers true linear scalability to, while maintaining, complete flexibility to be customized for the specific requirements of an industry, or an enterprise.
How does a Business deploy AltaMap?
GeoMicro delivers its products primarily as self hosted solutions, but we also offer them as Hosted Web Services. Web Services are easy to use and ideal for smaller companies that do not have the resources for self- hosting or require a lower entry level price point. But as mapping technology matured; the economic arguments presented by Web Mapping Service Providers have eroded to the point where it is no longer significantly different to install, program, and update self hosted applications. In fact, it is now more cost effective for many companies to self host their solutions. The advantages of self hosted applications are security, much more control over the application, and access to the broadest set of customization options.
Although AltaMap is capable of adding Geographic Intelligence to most businesses; GeoMicro has been focusing on three primary industries. They are:
- GPS Tracking, for fleet and mobile workforce,
- Geographic Information Systems within governments and engineering, and
- Mobile Applications.
Who Has Deployed AltaMap?
It is has been licensed by the US Navy, GE, and AccuWeather. Even MapQuest depends on AltaMap for Traffic applications. Over 100 companies embed and resell AltaMap as core features of their products. This provides a broad distribution to thousands of companies that use GeoMicro technology to actively manage their enterprise.
The applications can be very different for various industries, but they all have one key commonality: AltaMap technology enables users to make better decisions. This key advantage drives a sustainable return on investment (ROI) for GeoMicro's partners, clients, and end users.
