GeoFencing and Alerts

Need to create an area on the map to track and maintain awareness of vehicles, products, or service technicians. AltaMap Server supports the ability to create Alerts as they enter, or exit GeoFenced areas or as the approach points. Unlike other applications, AltaMap supports a rich set of polygon shapes.

• Circles (radius from a point)
• Rectangles and Squares,
• User defined shapes,
• Existing boundaries such as city, county or state boundaries, or
• Buffers along a route.

GeoFences have many practical purposes:

• Improve Customer Service
  Alert a customer when the service technician is within a specified distance,
• Safety and Security
  Ensure Mobile assets stay within their assigned areas,
• Improve efficiency
  Avoid miles driven and wasted time because a driver is lost and enforce route compliance
• Avoid Billing Disputes
  How long was a vehicle at that location.

Alerts

Geofencing is just one of the methods that can be employed to generate alerts. Alerts can also be based on excessive speeds, or idle times. Alerts are used to automate the enforcement of business rules.
